2016 Tournament Cancelled

To The Participants and Sponsors of the JMU Rockfish Tournament,

Due to the current weather forecast we have no choice but to cancel the 2016 JMU Rockfish Tournament.
Nothing is more important than the well-being of our participants, and both Saturday and Sunday's conditions are unsafe.
High winds, rough seas, and heavy rains are imminent all weekend and this puts everyone in an unfortunate situation.
Given the time of year surrounding the Holidays, alternative weekend dates through the end of the year are unrealistic.
Alternative dates in January are also unrealistic because the Rockfish Season will then be closed as of December 31st.
The ocean season over the past several years has been nonexistent, and this leads to the conclusion of cancelling the tournament.
It is our intention to refund all of the pre-registration entry fees and Calcutta's promptly; if you have already paid we will be in touch soon to refund.
Our sponsors are critical to the success of our tournament and without them we cannot cover the carrying costs of all affiliated expenses that have already been purchased for this year.
With that said, we want to make clear that we have every intention of delivering the value promised by putting your donation dollars towards next year's tournament sponsorship.
Members of the tournament committee will gather Friday at Chick's Oyster Bar as planned, please join us as we cheer on JMU as the Dukes play in the FCS Football Semi-Final @ 7:00.
The tournament would like to thank all of our volunteers and committee members for your efforts leading up to this weekend and your willingness to stick it out with us no matter how the tides turned.
Please feel free to contact us directly with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Jason Murphy & Cameron Miller (Co-Chairmen, JMU Rockfish Tournament)
